Jody Martin | Haru | Pottle
Jody Martin has been working with clay and ceramics for many years initially with handbuilding but in recent years she has focussed on her throwing skills using her Bernard Leach kick-wheel. Her current work is influenced by the aesthetics of Japanese and Korean ceramics – refined but full of character. The human touch is evident with thumb and finger imprints and hand carved bases. This makes them tactile and comfortable.
Due to firing techniques she has developed some delightful glazes.
‘Haru’ – pale green glaze
The shade of green changes subtly as it clings to the surface of the clay. The colour enhances any food or liquid put in it.
(haru means ‘Spring’)
